"First and foremost, I’m a husband and father of two. When I’m not on the water, I focus everything I have to bettering my family and myself. Born and raised in northwestern Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley, I grew up fishing small trout streams in the Blue Ridge mountains in WV and the greater Appalachian Range. Though, I started as most do, using conventional fishing gear, I focused my time on reading water and landing spinners into pockets and swinging them to Native brookies, wild and stocker bows. I got into fishing due to one person, my dad. It wasn’t until my mid/late twenties (I’m almost 32…) did him and I pick up a fly rod and reinvigorated ourselves with trout fishing. Since picking up a fly rod, I’ve focused my unique style of fly fishing to small streams with long 10ft+ 3wt rods with tight line nymph rigs and big nasty streamers, on streams that most would call me crazy using such a rod. Currently residing in Wake Forest, North Carolina, I live far from trout (they are minimum 4 hours away). This obsession we call fly fishing calls me to make the long grueling trips to the mountain streams as much as I’m able to. When on the water, you can find me roaming the mountains of NC, TN, VA, WV in pursuit of two things, a deeper immersion into life and big nasty wild brown trout.
The great struggle in life is to be better each and every day. When it comes to fly fishing, stay persistent, put your time in, perfect your craft and most importantly respect the resource, both the land and the fish!"
"I operate Raleigh Fly Fishing Guide Service, offering clients floating, as well as walk and wade trips in the Raleigh-Durham area and beyond. I began fly fishing at age 12, making trips with my father to the Delaware River and Sandy Hook Bay, from our home in New Jersey. I received a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from Franklin Pierce College and am a true conservationist at heart. My passion for pursuing species on the fly has brought me to more than 25 states, Canada, and the Bahamas. The Catskills and Alaska are two of my favorite destinations. After making the move to Raleigh, NC in 2008, I began pursuing largemouth bass and other warm water species, on the fly. My goal is to provide my customers with an exceptional fly fishing experience. An important part of this is ensuring that we use the highest quality tackle on all of our trips. I enjoy guiding all ages and ability levels, pursuing a wide range of species. We have a tremendous local fishery with great shad and white bass fishing in the spring, and fantastic topwater for largemouth from June-September. I currently reside in Wake Forest, NC with my three children."
"I've lived in Western North Carolina my entire life. My love of trout fishing came from going with my dad as a kid, but really turned into the obsession it is now after I bought my first fly rod. I fish medium to small sized water and love to explore the wild creeks. My absolute favorite thing to do is to catch giant browns in small creeks. Fly fishing is very much a lifestyle and is an activity that keeps me grounded and connected to the natural world."
